Skiing

Skiers can enjoy the exciting summits and descents of the Black Hills right from Spearfish. With frequent snowfall November through March, Spearfish is a great place to enjoy the outdoors from a serene cross country ski trail or one of the highest peaks east of the Rocky Mountains.
Cross country skiing is very popular in the Black Hills with Big Hill and Eagle Cliff ski trails located west of the Spearfish Canyon walls. These trails offer a scenic way to spend a winter day. Spearfish also hosts an annual cross country ski challenge in February. Ski rentals are available nearby.
Downhill skiers and snowboarders can find adventure at Terry Peak and Mystic Miner Ski Resort at Deer Mountain, both located within eight miles of Spearfish. Terry Peak is the highest lift area served east of the Rocky Mountains with ski instruction for all ages. Mystic Miner Ski Resort offers a terrain park, family tubing and old world sleigh rides in addition to skiing.
