Executive Director - Visit Spearfish, Inc.
Visit Spearfish Inc., a newly-created destination marketing organization for the city of Spearfish, SD, is seeking a dynamic Executive Director to provide strategic leadership for the unified promotion of Spearfish as a convention site, group events location, and vacation destination. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will ensure that comprehensive marketing plans are in place to achieve growth objectives, manage all organization operations and suppliers, and foster positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and associations. We are looking for a highly motivated leader with a proven track record of developing innovative ideas and achieving measurable results.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Direct all administrative, operating, and marketing functions of Visit Spearfish, Inc.
Develop and implement strategic and annual operating and marketing plan with supporting budgets
Proactively support convention and event planning at major venues in Spearfish
Establish effective communications with local, regional, and state associations, tourism offices, reservation services, and marketing cooperatives
Travel and participate in regional trade shows and conferences to promote Spearfish as a conference and vacation destination
Oversee all advertising and promotional agency planning and activities
Select, train, and supervise employees and volunteers

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree - preferably in business administration, marketing, tourism or related field; MBA a plus
Minimum five years experience in a corporate/public/association leadership position with successful management of strategy, people, projects, and budgets; preference given to direct experience in tourism, destination, or community marketing
Significant experience in developing and executing marketing campaigns including an understanding of advertising agency oversight, brand development, promotional strategies, and media planning and buying
Strong communications skills including writing, presentations, and public speaking
Outgoing, entrepreneurial spirit with ability to work flexibly in creating a new organization

Salary:

Commensurate with experience - annual salary with benefit stipend
